I am a Canadian whose connection to nature runs deep. Growing up on the West Coast, much of my childhood was spent outdoors, exploring forests, mountains, and coastlines. This connection to the rugged beauty of the land was only further nurtured while living on a Southern Gulf Island. In 2020, I took up drawing, developing a keen eye for observing and capturing the magic of the natural world.
Since taking up drawing I've been honing my observational skills to capture the magic of nature. Along the way, I’ve also delved into my family history, researching my roots and exploring connections to my ancestors. This exploration led me to create a portrait series in graphite of those who came before me.
My creative practice revolves around slowing down and being present in nature. I often find myself drawing outside or gathering reference photos for future projects. I work in graphite, but I also love experimenting with watercolors and ink. My subjects range from portraits to landscapes, trees, flowers, mushrooms, and other things the natural world has to offer.
At the heart of my work is a desire for creative exploration and a deeper understanding of the world around me.
